3 mistakes everyone makes when budgeting for their wedding
Weddings are the LEAST understood major financial “investment” in your lifetime and the financial dynamics cause the MOST stress when planning a wedding. It’s crazy that in 2024 we STILL have such poor knowledge about weddings; info is gatekept, siloed, paywalled, and outdated.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Because in weddings - while everyone *thinks* they know how much things should cost, most people don’t know very much at all. This isn't the case for other milestones in your life - whether that's buying your first car, going to college, or buying a house - you probably know how much each of these things costs.

My solution is not going to a wedding at all,
My wedding was in the courthouse parking lot due to my husband having to return to the military base early for a snow storm. I’m saving this video and watching every year on our anniversary!! It’s THE MOST BEAUTIFUL wedding ever!! I can’t get over this bride!! Congrats to the beautiful couple and family!! ❤

I am going to a black tie wedding: the invitation says dress like you are going to a movie premiere.
That's a fun way to put it! I have even more examples on this the featured video on my page if that's helpful to you!
What about black tie optional??
Black tie optional is truly only a difference for men (in a western society) as it is just the option for men to wear either a tux or a suit. For women you should still be in black tie or formal (meaning a hemline that can go to your ankles)

First one is definitely black tie. You have no clue what you’re talking about
The length of the dress is too short. It's not black tie, but it can confuse people!
Black tie means floor length gown - the slit also makes it no longer under the black tie label! I have a full video breaking this down - check it out and let me know what you think!

Googling “wedding dress codes explained” is sooo helpful. My understanding is that black tie is gowns/dresses, covering the ankles, and formal wear.
